The Tasting Room is a concept born of a sunny afternoon's wine tasting in the Cape Winelands. It aims to bring the flavours and atmosphere of a tasting experience in the Cape’s finest vineyards to Gauteng.

The Tasting Room offers restaurant-goers in Gauteng the chance to experience a range of tasting flights without the cost of a trip to the Cape. Enjoy a range of tastings - from the more traditional wine, cheese and olives to the unusual, such as coffee and macarons.

The Tasting Room is a concept designed to provide the customer with a novel experience they can't get in their own province.

Our team has a personal love of both wine and the Cape itself.

    The food: The onion & goat's cheese starter was lovely. Pork belly for the main: What does one expect? Crispy skin? Absolutely. Then the chef pours a sauce over it - resulting in chewy leather Sticky toffee pudding: Awesome whisky-caramel sauce over a mostly dry cake. Here is a lot of potential & the food needs a few tweaks here & there and this venue could become a major player on the Gauteng food scene. This was a Glenlivet whisky tasting event paired with food. Could someone please tell the brand ambassador/rep (great, well-spoken, friendly guy) that speaking for 30+ minutes to a crowd who is hungry, is not only boring but is possibly not the correct way to promote your brand.

The restaurant's ambiance is designed to transport diners to the vineyards of the Western Cape, with décor and details that change monthly to highlight featured wine farms. The Tasting Room in Waterkloof, Pretoria, hosted an exclusive Whisky Evening featuring The Glenlivet, the event offered guests a three-course meal expertly paired with four premium The Glenlivet whiskies.

    I took my hubby for this whiskey pairing as it was his birthday. We throughly enjoyed yourselves even though I don't drink whiskey. I did try the cocktail which was delicious. Hubby enjoyed it all. The food was really delicious 😋

    My experience was disappointing. The food quality was subpar, particularly with the chicken, which tasted stale and hard, lacking any discernible flavor. The steak was also underwhelming, as it was initially overcooked and chewy, requiring a redo. Furthermore, I was surprised to find that the drink menu was extremely limited, with only a selection of monthly specials available. This lack of options was a letdown, as I was expecting a more varied and accommodating beverage selection. While the staff was attentive and willing to correct their mistakes, the overall experience fell short of my expectations. Hopefully, the restaurant will take steps to improve their food quality and expand their drink offerings in the future.
