The Kraal Restaurant at Joostenberg Wine Estate, is a laid back, farm restaurant, serving slow, seasonal three course lunches and organic estate wines. Tables are set between fruit and olive trees in the shaded, stone walled courtyard in summer, and inside the cosy, rustic wagenhuis in winter. Allow some time to enjoy a relaxed, informative tasting of our wines and to stroll through the werf garden and admire the authentic, original Cape Dutch architecture.

Light local cheese and salad lunch R150 pp

    We had a wonderful 3 course lunch with wine pairing. There are restaurants in the area where the food is more refined and exquisite, but the setting is very charming and the service is excellent. Good value for money.

    If there were 10 stars the Kraal would get them. The food is superb, beautifully cooked and all locally sourced. The Chef is creative but unfussy and all the food is placed on the table to share. It’s a wonderful sociable way to eat and makes for a wonderful afternoon. Take a group of family and friends and remember what’s important in life. Good food, wonderful setting, lovely staff and absolutely the best experience.

    A wonderful meal in a perfect setting. The service was discrete and efficient. We were able to linger, enjoy the ambience and the company and at no stage did we feel rushed! My favourite eatery in the Cape!
