Your Italian Restaurant in Cape Town

The Cousins Trattoria was an idea created by Andrea, Simone and Luca who wanted to bring their knowledge and passion for food to Cape Town.

These cousins from Romagna, on the Adriatic coast of Italy, have lived in (and loved) Cape Town for many years, but felt there was not a place in the city where they could find the simple, authentic Italian food they had grown up with, in their homeland.

So joining their skills, they opened The Cousins Trattoria, where Andrea makes fresh pasta every morning, using only fresh and natural ingredients, just like Mama does! Bread and tiramisu are baked daily; great coffee and a passion for service makes this easy going place a heaven for the senses.

Buon Appetito!!!

It is not even normal how fantastic the food is at this place. The vibe is very warm, think of a busy restaurant in Italy, I feel like. The decor is welcoming but classy and the buzz from people laughing and enjoying is infectious. The service is lovely, professional but not over the top. The food, though, my goodness. The lamb ragu blew my mind. I am dreaming of it! And the sage and butter ravioli! (I wish my butter and sage had been sliiightly more burnt to get the full flavour but this is just being pedantic because it was great) and the famous classic pasta in the wheel was super creamy and cheesy. The dessert, though, those beignets with citrus curd and a half cup of oozy chocolate sauce? Why do I eat dessert anywhere else? How pointless. I am forever changed. Loved it!

Overpriced and overrated..but I guess that's Cape Town. Had the special, passatelli in broth, was very bland and not as described by the waiter. Corkage of R125...crazy!
