NOT-YOUR-AVERAGE NEIGHBOURHOOD CAFE BAKERY
Celebrating cafe-style classics with a contemporary twist, Sonny and Irene brings a new kind of pizazz to Sea Point, opening in the spring of 2022. Nestled between urban seaside and the city of Cape Town, sweet sophistication is the order of the day. Set in a perfect palette of organic greens with pops of soft pink and gold, finished in natural timber, marble and plush velvet with Art Deco accents, this is classic with a kick.

Good salad in accessible bowl. Disappointing sole,…small fish and one badly cut so difficult to avoid stray bones. Certainly not good value or an adequate meal. Excellent and attentive service and pleasant ambience. Suggest you do radical evaluation of sole offering.

It’s always great to visit this spot! My friends and I are regulars but then this past visit I took a director for my company his from Scotland and he was impressed to the point he said very little restaurants in Europe, Scotland and United Kingdom are on this level in service, food presentation and taste! But obviously South Africans we can COOK

We dined as a group of three and had a mixed experience. The Gem Lettuce salad was generous in portion and well-received, and the Prawn Pasta earned rave reviews for its flavour and quality. However, the Steak Frites fell short of expectations—it was served medium well, despite being requested as medium rare. The most disappointing aspect of the evening was the cost of the beverages, which were not listed on the menu, and it came as a shock when the bill arrived. Charging R125 for a Matcha Latte feels excessive, as does R50 for a 500ml bottle of self-branded still water. Re-evaluation of beverage prices would enhance the overall dining experience, so a diner doesn't feel ripped off after dining.
