Social Eatery & Bar is a contemporary, casual restaurant located at Knysna Hollow Country Estate serving breakfast, cafe lunches and dinner, 7 days a week from 07h00 - 22h00. We serve authentic food made from fresh, local ingredients with an emphasis on healthy, tasty combinations. Meals can be enjoyed in the restaurant, bar lounge or on one of our outdoor decks and our unique barrel-vaulted private dining room offers a venue for that special occasion. Social Bar serves craft G&Ts, locally-brewed beer on tap and has a unique wine cellar showcasing some of South Africas finer wines.

    Please can you change your menu. We love coming to Social and a small menu is great, but it needs to be changed. Lot of our friends won’t come for this reason.

    I would not eat here again. It was an amazing setting with a wonderful ambience but ordered food that was terrible to eat and not enjoyed by myself at all and needed the meal replacement and that was not that enjoyable either. Manager did resolve my issues straight away and offer drinks on the house, but by this stage I was already finished with the experience and the meal. I had high expectations and sorry to say but not one I will go back to.

    Limited menu (food and drinks), slow under staffed service. Beautiful restaurant but I go to restaurants to enjoy food not aesthetics and I would have appreciated having a menu to do that from. Dessert was nice. 4 out of the 6 of us ended up having dessert for supper because the menu didn’t have much food to choose from

We do apologise if the service was slower than usual but in the peak Festive Season this does happen from time to time. In terms of the food and drink choices, we have a fairly extensive menu and wine list which has served us and our guests very well over the last six years, we are sorry if there was nothing on our menus that appealed to you, however we have not had similar feedback in the past.     I ordered fish and chips. The fish had no flavour at all but the chips were nice. The service was excellent.

    We booked for Christmas eve and as we had not been before I read some reviews and decided to give it a try. The tables were all festive with crackers which was a.nice touch. We had bubbles to start with and then for starter I had the soup and my partner had the starter mussels and both were very good. We had both decided to have the mushroom pasta with chicken, unfortunately I didn't find it very tasty maybe a little bland and could have had a.bit more sauce with it We had ordered wine for the main but seems the waiter forgot and got busy with another table, after speaking with the manager he sorted out the delay. We both shared a desert which was like an Eton mess and very nice finish to the meal Apart from.the main course I would say it was quite pricey for two people we paid just over R1000
