Midweek dinners under the stars, Friday nights with friends, special occasions celebrated in style, and a delicious breakfast menu – join us for a memorable dining experience in the heart of Plettenberg Bay.

The main dining room sits in the oldest part of the hotel, in the original building constructed in 1777 as an army barracks for the Dutch East India Company before being converted into an Anglican rectory in 1869. An exquisite, centuries-old stone wall adds warmth and character to the space while the building’s heritage inspires a bistro-style menu that draws on Dutch, English and South African influences.

    Really great experience. Food was great and reasonable value for the evenings total experience. Wine was on the expensive side with little choice of reasonable priced options Will be back for the special occasions

    We had lunch at the restaurant 1777 @ The Old Rectory for the first time.. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Shall be back soon. Thanks Lolly for the fine service.

    We were taken care of by Vuyo last night. She was just perfect! She was confident and attentive - but just the right amount :) Cool spot, cool vibe, cool peeps.

    We enjoyed our first dinner here so much that we decided to go again (twice!) to try as many dishes as we could. This restaurant has now become a staple for our annual visit to Plettenberg Bay.

    Very nice location and reasonably priced menu . It would have got another star if the waiter had been a bit more engaged in his job .
