Quills Restaurant, in uniquely African fashion, offers guests the opportunity to experience spectacular restaurant dining in Kempton Park, Johannesburg at InterContinental O.R. Tambo Airport. An 18-metre (59 foot) porcupine quill mobile suspended from the ceiling of the restaurant sets the tone, as does the dramatic collage of traditional African masks. The spirit of Africa – its energy, originality, and passion – is reflected in its authentic cuisine.

Guests can enjoy delicious breakfasts, cosmopolitan lunches and contemporary dinners. Specialising in local dishes paired with outstanding South African wines, the restaurant’s distinctive atmosphere is one that reflects the warm hospitality of South Africa’s City of Gold. Quills Bar, meanwhile, serves an excellent variety of cocktails, local wines, ciders and beers, and provides the ideal opportunity to relax, socialise, or simply spend quality time with friends and family.

    Really excellent dinner. The server handled that our choice of main course was not available and offered an alternative which was perfect. Great ambiance in restaurant.

    We loved the atmosphere of quiet elegance at Quills. Our food was wonderful. I had the duck, while my sister enjoyed the lamb. The mobile of the porcupine quills was fascinating. Chef accommodated my need for gluten-free food, making the place quite Celiac friendly. They even made a special soup for me, as the soup of the day contained gluten!. Service was excellent without being intrusive. I will highly recommend a trip to Quills for those wanting a special dining experience in Johannesburg.

    I paid R9,000 for a meal where prearranged arrival drinks were not ready on time, brought in bits and pieces, wrong spirits were used for first round despite preordering, seafood platter of R1,700 where only a few King prawns were used, no Tigers I requested, no fish either. I’d rather choose a fine dining restaurant where you pay a top price for food perfection. I think this restaurant can get away with this as it only serves wealthy business and international travelers transiting at the InterContinental hotel at O R Tambo airport who are willing to pay USD or EUR, or where companies pay the bills. Should offer me a decent refund or complementary meal to make up.
