Along with formal training in Europe, Chef Nicolene Barrow worked at the world-famous Le Gavroche Restaurant in London before setting up Orangerie at Le Lude. Here classical French cuisine is presented with a contemporary twist; the purist, disciplined approach of the European masters combined with a hint of individual, modern creativity where what is on the plate is presented looking as good as it tastes.

A seasonal menu offers the finest, freshest ingredients found in the forests, meadows, mountains and seas of the Cape, resulting in a selection of dishes offered in an environment conducive to making permanent Franschhoek memories.

    This is just one of the most beautifull restaurants, with the most amazing special vibe, ABSOLUTELY BEYOND BRILLIANT food from starters to mains to deserts, it is OUT OF THIS WORLD special!!!! It is somewhere I thought I'd go to once to spoil myself, but have gone again and just want to return to more often!!! Edmund is just amazing and next level also!!!

    Each year coming back to Cape Town we make the journey out to Franchoek to eat at Orangerie in Le Lude estate and each year we are never disappointed. This is our favourite restaurant in the Cape and have already booked to come back again in the coming weeks.

    An excellent dinner. Great friendly service.The apple tarte fine was particularly delicious and well worth the wait knowing that it was freshly prepared.
