Along with formal training in Europe, Chef Nicolene Barrow worked at the world-famous Le Gavroche Restaurant in London before setting up Orangerie at Le Lude. Here classical French cuisine is presented with a contemporary twist; the purist, disciplined approach of the European masters combined with a hint of individual, modern creativity where what is on the plate is presented looking as good as it tastes.

A seasonal menu offers the finest, freshest ingredients found in the forests, meadows, mountains and seas of the Cape, resulting in a selection of dishes offered in an environment conducive to making permanent Franschhoek memories.

4 of us enjoyed a wonderful evening dining on the terrace. Our waitress was delightful, the food delicious as were the wines, and we were not rushed in any way. When in Franschhoek, Le Lude is a must - we’ll be back again next year.

Delicious afternoon tea. Couldn’t fault it. The roast beef & whipped feta baguette was sublime; the scone was warm, fluffy and indulgent. All cakes were divine but in particular the carrot cake.

We got a very warm welcome, and the service was superb throughout. I am still dreaming about having the cheese souffle again soon. The wines - MCC of course - are also very good. No wonder this place is fully booked weeks ahead. Will return for sure.

Faultless as always. Prawn & melon salad was just perfect with succulent melon & sweet juicy prawns. Chicken supreme was divine. My dining partners had the fig starter and the calamari followed by the Tagliata and lamb. Both said everything was excellent. Service first class & a beautiful ambience
