Ōku Asian Eatery is a Southeast Asian-inspired restaurant situated on Franschhoek’s main road.

The restaurant interior is inspired by the minimalistic design popular in the traditional Asian culture with delicate artwork and unique bonsai trees decorating the walls of the restaurant.

The team guided by Ryan Shell has created an ever-evolving menu that showcases traditional Asian-themed tones in a respectful manner whilst using high-quality local and seasonal produce. Our passionate front-of-house team is driven to deliver excellence in all aspects of service whilst displaying empathy for all of our guests by attending to their needs and desires.

Our wine list is focused on local wineries from in and around the valley as well as a selection of cocktails and sakes, including our own house brand beer-styled sakes.

The dining experience is completed with instrumental music that evokes a sense of calmness in our guests that enables them to unwind and relax.

    This was one of our most amazing Japanese dining experiences outside Japan itself. We had the yellowtail tuna, prawn pot sticker, wagyu beef and cheesecake with several chef's amuses. Asked if the chef was Japanese we were astonished he/she was not, so someone in charge in the kitchen had a great teacher. The staff was beyond excellent, efficient, nice personalities and well explaining the items served. We give Oku the highest rating possible. Domo arigato gozeimasu!!!!!!

    Thank you for an amazing dinner experience. Just wagyu wasn’t our taste, but everything else was outstanding. The service was excellent and the love to details exceptional. We are looking forward to come back next year.
