    Disappointing. I phoned Mirage in the morning to book a table for my wife and I, as we were excited to try out a new restaurant in town. The FOH lady told me that unfortunately they are fully booked, and no tables are available. I asked her if she could let me know if there are any cancellations, and she agreed. We never heard back from her so booked a table at Hat & Creek (lovely). We decided however to see if we could just have a drink at Mirage before we went for dinner. Upon arrival, we walked into the huge restaurant, and not a single table was occupied...Empty... We asked the waitress to sit outside, where we had a view of the mountains. After a drink we decided to get the bill and move on. When the waitress brought the bill, it had a big Red chilli sauce smear on top of it. ( Impossible to miss) I pointed it out to the waitress, and she just wiped it off with her thumb. After I paid the bill (Where I still added a 10% tip) i was on my way out when the waitress came running to tell me that she had under charged me...She thought I said R118, not R180, which does not even make sense as the bill was R160. I gave her cash and ended up waiting another 5 minutes while all the staff were running around looking for change. When leaving around 7PM, the place was still empty. It seems like they don't like business. The space is beautiful, view is great, but the drinks and food are overpriced especially for that low level of service. FOH and waiters clearly need training. We won't return.

We value your feedback as it is through feedback that we are able to identify areas in need of improvement. Please take into consideration that we are operating a hotel as well as the restaurant and we manage our restaurant bookings from outside guests due to occupancy levels in our hotel. It might be that you came for drinks before the big dinner rush started. We apologize for the incident with the chilli sauce on your bill and the subsequent undercharging and cash handling issues. This is completely unacceptable and falls below the standards we strive for. We have addressed these matters with our staff and taken steps to prevent similar occurrences in the future. We acknowledge that our prices may be perceived as higher than some other establishments. However, we believe they are justified by the quality of our ingredients, the unique ambiance, and the overall dining experience we aim to provide. Foodie Greetings, Mirage Restaurant
