Maximillien Restaurant launches New Menu
The décor is reminiscent of the old school Balthazar restaurant in New York, and the dark wood panelling, mirrors and red upholstery, as well as the black and white checked floors and intricately pressed ceilings would find you thinking that you had indeed headed back in time to the 1920’s.
What can only be described as one of Sandton’s most well-known restaurants, the Maximillien is a stalwart of fine dining at its best. Floor to ceiling windows allow in soft natural light during the day and create a picturesque view for evening dining. Romantic candle light dinners setting the mood.

    Too many things went wrong that day. There were efforts to rectify by the manager but so many things went wrong that day. 1. Booked Valentines indulge package , booked restaurant. I was called day before to confirm my booking and I confirmed. On the day, when we about to head out to restaurant we were advised that the restaurant is full so we have to eat in our room(my wife had bathed, put make up and almost fully dressed. I was already done). Already the experience is ruined, and my plans. 2. Part of the valentines indulge package was decorations, bubbly and strawberries when we arrive in the room. none of it was there eventhough we arrived 3 hours late(enough time to set up). I called reception to ask why there’s no decorations and wine as paid for, reception said they don’t deal with that I must call house keeping. I called house keeping and they said how can it be them when they only do cleaning, I must call room service, they said they only deal with food orders and not decorations so we ended up Leaving it since we weren’t getting anywhere with calling reception, 7112 and7126 I think. 3. During dinner, house keeping comes and asks us to leave the room so they can do the valentines package, we had to wait on the hall way while they set up in our gowns. 4. While having the dinner, we get a call from the restaurant saying they have been waiting for us and we didn’t show up. The manager did try to salvage the evening and I am grateful but the experience was totally not expected and not what I hoped and paid for.

    Too pricy, no options on the menu . 1 small glass of champagne. - 30g of ostrich steak , very thinly sliced beetroot, extra small round potato - only enjoyed breakfast

    Enjoyed the valentines dinner, food and ambiance was great The table was however small and no place to put a hand bag The drinks were also limited, we were told, due to low stock Overall it was okay

    the food was not worth the money paid, we always had to ask for our meals, the portions were small, the steak was tough and we were not asked how we would like it. we only enjoyed the desert. We always had to call or look for our waiter. overall it was not what we expected from a 5 Star restaurant.
