Situated in the picturesque old-world charm of Kalk Bay’s working harbour, Live Bait has an iconic location. Built on the breakwater, the restaurant has exquisite views overlooking False Bay and the mountains beyond on one side, and the colourful harbour on the other. With a wall of windows, it allows the outside in and creates a breath-taking backdrop to enjoy a meal.

From late July, the Humpback and Southern Right whales come into the bay to calf and are regularly visible to diners. In summer our sun deck allows diners to experience unforgettable outdoor seascapes.

All meals are simply prepared, with an emphasis on fresh flavours of seafood.

    Absolutely loved our evening at Live Bait. The service was outstanding, thank you Alfred. The sushi was so fresh and delicious. Still one of our favourites places, thank you.

    The view is unbeatable! The food is well priced and of course, the seafood is a must. Waitrons seem like they could be a little fresher and keener.

    Very poor service overall. The management and staff are completely indifferent to the needs of their customers. Table reservations are not honored, food and drink orders are messed up, and an attitude of complete indifference to these issues from the staff is blatantly obvious.
