La Parada Bar De Tapas first opened its doors in Bree Street – Cape Town’s hottest food strip – as a tribute to the Spanish bars that bewitched Hemingway. La Parada offers tapas born from Spanish heritage but curated for the South African palate.

With an impressive interior, boasting ornate pressed ceilings, a miscellany of chairs and lampshades and an eclectic selection of Spanish tiles, La Parada specialises in sharing small plates that incorporate a Spanish flair and a great vibe. With many patrons popping in for afternoon drinks and a light bite, rather than a sit-down dinner – which is after all the origin of tapas – the drinks list encourages as much experimentation as the menu.

    The service was bad we had to wait for an hour and 30 minutes for our food they are shortstaffed and one way to head to help 3 to 4 tables at a time I ordered the pork and it was hot as a rock the chicken was not even cooked . You could actually smell the rawness of the chicken. Their drinks were okay but I don’t think I would ever go back to the place
