La Parada Bar De Tapas is a tribute to the Spanish bars that bewitched Hemingway. La Parada offers tapas born from Spanish heritage but curated for the South African palate.

With an impressive interior, boasting ornate pressed ceilings, a miscellany of chairs and lampshades and an electic selection of Spanish tiles, La Parada specialises in sharing small plates that incorporates a Spanish flair and a great vibe. With many patrons popping in for afternoon drinks and a light bite, rather than a sit-down dinner – which is after all the origin of tapas – the drinks list encourages as much experimentation as the menu.

    The portion of the food and quality for the prices listed is ridiculous my steak was so small and dry. I know a hand full of restaurants that offer bigger and better portions of steak for a lesser price. It was my first and last time

    Last night was hands down the worst experience we’ve ever had. First off, no one even knew about my booking for 5 people—how is that possible? The tables were wobbly and uncomfortable, and the place had zero atmosphere, like they didn’t even try. The food? Completely below average, and when we complained, this so-called manager named Elias (who honestly didn’t even seem like a manager) came over, but didn’t do a single thing to turn things around. The customer service was non-existent! The hostess was just hanging out on her phone, and everyone else seemed to be doing their best to avoid eye contact with us. It was beyond horrible! At this rate, this place is definitely going to shut down in a few months. There’s just no way it can survive with service this terrible!
