Chef Lorianne Heyns takes an uncomplicated approach to food, delicately balancing flavours. Hers is the type of food you can eat every day of the week, but still feel as though you’re experiencing something truly wonderful. Lorianne’s food philosophy is to keep it simple, creative and seasonal and to only use the best quality ingredients available.

    It was our first time at Jean Restaurant. We were disappointed that at the menu options for vegetarians on their Sunday Brunch menu. There was also no attempt to offer us options from their main menu despite our request for other veg options as a main meal. We settled for the veg pizza and some veg side dishes. The food was delicious nevertheless. I however feel strongly that the vegetarian options were limited. Our serving ambassador in her ignorance about a vegetarian diet referred us to the egg dishes on the menu.

    Sunday Lunch was chosen from the Sunday Menu, which had no starters and a choice of only 5 main dishes. I was disappointed with my Roast Pork Belly as it was really only a large pork rasher. My wife had the fish dish which was a grilled Panga. We shared a side dish of roast potatoes and a salad. Portions were generous. Ambiance and service both good. Value for money but not food was not quite the 'fine dining' experience we expected: (perhaps Head Chef not present on Sundays?)

    I brought a group including young children and the staff was so very helpful and accommodating. We loved the whole experience of being at Jean's. Thank you.

    Unfortunately, this was the first time ever that we did not have a great experience at Jean at all. Two of the people in our party do not eat eggs and we found very little on the Sunday breakfast menu without eggs. The one lady then settled on the basil focaccia. Firstly, what she got was not a focaccia - it was more like a bun. Secondly, she found the basil so overpowering and rich that it made her feel sick. The other person settled for the pancakes and she found it very dry and not pleasant at all. Lastly, the service that we received was not great - we had to look for our waiter when we needed him. This was not a great experience overall.
