This edition of Cheyne's magical gastronomy is as fabulous as ever -- his food never fails to astonish and delight. All our dishes were delectable -- but the Tempura prawns, Mumbai beef and peanut butter ice cream were outstanding. Value is also excellent and service spot-on. Just two small fussy niggles (as a former Cheyne's regular!): please bring back beer on tap (make a deal with your neighbours!!) and would really love to be able to have a good coffee. Still among the very best dining experiences in town: we'll be back!

We first ate here just after Hiro opened and it felt fresh, interesting and different. Sadly the same could not be said last night. The flavours were cloying, overbearing and predictable. Too many dishes are deep fried and even the duck fat chips were slightly overcooked and too hard. Our table was in a back room and felt like an annexe to the kitchen with staff constantly grouping past. We sat down at 7:30 and by 9:30 the restaurant was cleared and packed up and we had been forgotten. When we reminded staff that we’d ordered dessert, they remembered us but in the end we waited for 20 minutes for it, where all the plates beforehand had been delivered rather too quickly and in no particular order. It felt rushed and disorganised, followed by a lengthy wait. Sadly a disappointing experience that we had all been keenly anticipating.
