    If I’d never eaten at the Cape Grace before, my review might be different. If you’re an old Capetonian, then this restaurant has lost all the charm and ambience of this beautiful old stalwart. It’s good, but it’s good in a ‘same as all the other chain hotels’ way. The cocktails were not up to Fairmont standard and there were no traditional South African style desserts which seems like a missed opportunity. The ‘cool’ crockery made eating some dishes really difficult. I’d eat here again, but I wouldn’t run back.

    Service and food were delicious, but the atmosphere stole the show. 1508 London design firm created a comfortable yet contemporary vibe that made the overall experience spectacular!

    What a wonderful experience we had at Heirloom. The staff was very friendly and professional. The food was excellent. We were a group of four and had different choices but everything was really special Good sized portions of high quality, So was the wine. We were served full glasses and even some refills. We can recommend this place for sure also because the ambience is very pleasant with a nice view on the harbor

    Very quiet on a Sunday lunch time. The atmosphere could be much improved with some contemporary lounge music and some special offers to entice guests to come. Stunning location and views.

    Fine dining? No white table clothe? Not even a placemat? The food was meh…nothing to write home about. I ordered the fresh fish from the ocean instead of the farm raised sea bass. The waitress didn’t offer to bring out and show me the fresh fish.

    I am very disappointed in Heirloom at the Cape Grace. The deposit that I paid did not reflect on the bill. This really should be the responsibility of the establishment to deliver a correct bill if the guests have paid a deposit (in my case R600), since after a big meal and drinks, this is not something I had foremost in my mind when paying the bill. So we paid and left, and only in the parking lot remembered about the deposit, and had to go back. The manager was apologetic and reversed the extra charge, but it all felt really awkward. There was also an alarm that was going off in the kitchen for about an hour during the evening; when we enquired about it, our waiter said that they were unable to switch if off and had called the company. It was really disturbing and unpleasant to have that the whole time, hence the low score for ambience. The service was good overall, but we had a bottle of bubbles and it took a long time for our waiter to fill our glasses when we emptied them (the bottle was stored cold in the bar and we could not help ourselves). The food was good, no complaints there, and the view is wonderful. But I will not be going back, the lack of care with the deposit not reflecting on our bill is really unacceptable.
