Food & Wine was amazing. The service initially was pretty poor. There were a lot of guests that arrived at the same time. Towards the end of the evening, they really turned it around. I get it, guys—you're busy, and I ordered food with a wine pairing. But if it's going to take 90 minutes to get the first course to my table, then PERHAPS I might want to order something to drink while we wait. (And no, still water doesn't count!) We asked for the drinks menu, and we were immediately reminded that we were getting wine with our food. Side note: The cocktails that we eventually ordered while waiting for our first course were amazing! We enjoyed our evening, but unfortunately, I doubt I'll ever go back.

My boyfriend and I were really excited for the Valentine's Day picnic. The setting was lovely with a beautiful view, but the wind was terrible (not the restaurant’s fault, though). What really dissapointed us was the service. We had to carry all of the picnic stuff ourselves to our spot, which felt a bit odd for a more high-end restaurant. The utensils were these wooden knives and forks that were basically useless. There wasn’t even a bottle of water included, which seemed a little strange. The only drinks provided was a complimentary glass of sparkling wine (which was half spilt down my arm - the waitress was super apologetic, but it was still frustrating). My boyfriend, who was driving, got a small glass of Appletiser, and they took the rest of the can away pretty quickly - If we had asked for more, I’m guessing we’d have been charged extra... (just felt quite stingy) The food was a quite a letdown. It was nothing like what I was expecting from the description on the website and the rave reviews I've heard about Grub and Vine before. What we got was cold, bland, and nothing special. Honestly, it didn’t feel like a Valentine’s Day meal at all and I could have probably put together a much more 'romantic' picnic for half the price from woolies or something. Considering the price we paid, we expected so much more—better food, better service, and just an overall better experience. We left feeling pretty disappointed and wishing we’d gone somewhere else.
