The old stable, dated 1767, houses the recently restored restaurant, a charming blend of past and present. Features like the original stone floor and wooden mangers blend seamlessly with modern, comfortable furniture while historic photographs and bespoke blue Dutch tiles line the old walls.

Meals are also served outside on the grassed terrace which boasts a spectacular view of the Boland mountains and is surrounded by a neat, colourful garden. Dishes have been designed to complement the Groot Phesantekraal wines with generous flavours and modern flourishes.

    This is our go-to for any family occasion, funerals, birthdays,anniversaries, reunions, engagement, we have had them all. Food always great, strangely service was a bit slow yesterday.

    I booked a table for 4 people at the spice rack which was confirmed on Dineplan. We arrived on time and our table was given away. The restaurant was full and we were made to wait without estimated time of being seated. We then decided to leave without food. This was very disappointing after the previous good experiences at this establishment. We drove all the way from Cape Town just to be very disappointed by the obvious dropping standards of this establishment.

    Great spot for lunch! Nice setting and lovely food - def recommend it! Portion sizes very large so beware when ordering - a nice problem to have :)

    I had higher expectations for this restaurant, but the food lacks originality in both flavor and style. The breakfast I tried didn’t stand out, and after visiting twice, I found it underwhelming. I’ve had similar dishes at upmarket franchises that offer far better taste and quality. It’s a shame because this place has so much potential.
