Located at the popular V&A Waterfront, specialising in gourmet burgers and ribs and over 207 handspun ‘wow’ shakes with a further 65 extra toppings that you can add for your enjoyment. Setting out on a quest to create ‘The Best Burger’, we visited the top burger joints in the ‘Burger Capitals of the World’ – Chicago, New York and Las Vegas, and then tapped into the expertise of Belthazar’s Master Butcher, our 27 years’ of experience in making sauces at our SABS HACCP factory, and feedback from hundreds of burger tastings with colleagues, friends and customers. We then created 49 hand crafted burgers.

    This time around we have noticed a clear lowering of the usual food standards. The Gibson's salad was disappointing - lettuce not crisp and fresh and very little toppings aside the leaves. The portion was very small. The Sirloin was at best "average". The chips, which used to be one of Gibson's champion sides, were not great either. All portions were smaller than in the past. Sorry to be so frank, but standards have slipped! This might have been our last visit to Gibson's.

    To pay R180 for a rib starter.... 3 small pieces of bone with a little bit of meat on it, not worth R180 at all. The steak on my son's Philly steak roll was very tough - it looked like the meat wasn't cut correctly and therefor it was stringy. My hamburger patty had NO taste and was very bland and no flavour. We came all the way from Wellington and it was on our 'bucket list' as a family, but it was very disappointing.

    The milkshakes and cocktails were great, but the food was underwhelming. Perhaps we didn’t order the right items off your menu. Specifically the steak roll was very bland. I was also expecting my husband to feel a bit more special because it was his birthday. One of the questions asked when booking was if it was a special occasion and I said it’s for a birthday. No fuss or effort was made to make his experience special. Restaurants shouldn’t ask what the occasion is and not do anything to make that occasion memorable. You’re setting expectations when asking that question.

    Dear Chandre A belated Happy Birthday to your husband, we apologise for any inconvience caused, we kindly ask if you are a Gibson loyalty card holder so as a show of good faith we can issue you with a voucher, if not can you can please email me your name,DOB and then we will issue you with a voucher.We do not understand what you mean by the steak roll being bland as we use a distinctive basting sauce which is anything but bland, with the Karen export quality beef, which is anything but bland. Looking forward to your return

    The burgers were ok. The milkshake menu is amazing, but the shakes themselves are average and very expensive! I have a personal gripe if restaurants add an automatic 10% service to my bill just because my wife and I have 5 children! They are all very well behaved and our orders are always very simplistic and straight forwards. Normally, I tip well, even more than 10% if the service is good, but I do not appreciate it if a restaurant forces me to do so.
