    We had to leave because the service was so poor—after being seated for an unreasonably long time, we still hadn’t received a menu.

    Had to pay R300 to reserve my 8pm Valentines booking. Got to the restaurant and didn’t even get to enter. Had to go to the restaurant next door that luckily had a couple spare tables. Haven’t got my money back. Terrible experience. Gaucho clearly overbooked and used Valentines day as a way to scam reservation payments out of customers, although it didn’t secure their booking.

    The hostess and waitress were the downfall and it felt like they were rushing us. Also I paid a R300 booking fee for cheap champagne and live music but the guy came two hours late.

    The food was good, the service was good, but I paid R300 to secure my Valentine's day booking for 2, thinking it was a deposit. Only to find out that it was for "complementary" items i.e. a welcome glass of champagne and an empanada each.
