The Fishermans Cottage was built in the late 1800’s and was originally a fishermans home that belonged to the Hamman family.

The building was first converted into a restaurant in 1991 and changed owners several times before Anton and I took over the lease in August 2013.
We are in the heart of Hermanus, and we have had the privilege to work in this little gem, where ambience and atmosphere is reflected easily with our simple decor and relaxed environment.

    We come all the way from Florida every August and Fishermans Cottage is one of our favorites!!! We make reservations at least 6 months out! The calamari, raw oysters and seafood curry are THE BEST! The atmosphere is delightful. We always end up meeting new folks there!!!! We love it!

    We ate oysters, octopus as starters and for the main disk we had hake, salmon pasta, mussels en fish curry. The hake was not very tasteful. The rest of the food was very nice and tasteful. With all a very good evening with nice food and very friendly service.

    South African favourite seafood dishes done amazingly well. Service was amazing and the local wines went down well.

    Absolutely fab evening with friends, our meals were all great & our waiter, very efficient. Despite the restaurant being full, we didn’t wait for our food. My choice of the seafood curry with the softest, freshest naan bread was heavenly!
