Creation’s new-look Tasting Room has introduced bright pops of colour with glass sculptures, complementing the all-encompassing views of the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. Local, of course. Sleek wooden tables and sheepskin-covered chair seats in winter add to the welcoming ambience indoors. Here, every season is given equal emphasis with a sensory food-and-wine pairing menu crafted to stage the regional bounty.

The vine leads the way, with six courses conceptualised to make the wine shine. The Ayurvedic ethos ensures that tasters and diners leave with a lightness of being. The focus on wellness ensures that, from the amuse bouche, your blood sugars are kept steady. Ingredients are not overworked; simple ingredients eloquently combined, like tofu, sesame seeds, and ginger, are fried to create a delectable crust. Chef Eleanor Niehaus leads a unified kitchen brigade, many of whom hold wine qualifications and are sent to Europe for constant exposure and
upskilling. Every team member is obviously passionate about the place, produce, and their role.

Attention to detail is sublime. Note the pottery plate pressed with a Pinot Noir vine leaf, the silk scarf presented for you to touch, a feather, and even a shell to hold to your ear – it’s all part of a multi-course odyssey that engages every sense, a testament to co-owner Carolyn Martin’s sixth sense. There is something for everyone, from breakfast and a kid’s menu to charcuterie and cheese platters. It’s unofficially the gastronomic ambassador of the Overberg and Cape Floral Kingdom, simply heaven on a plate.

    We cannot recommend the food and wine pairing at Creation Wines highly enough! It was an unforgettable experience that showcased both creativity and excellence, from the inspired menu to the flawless wine pairings. Despite my cheese allergy, the team offered thoughtful alternatives, ensuring I didn’t miss a thing. The South African, inspired dishes, elevated with a touch of sophistication, made familiar flavours feel fresh and exciting. Kicking things off with a walk through the vineyards was such a highlight. It offered a real glimpse into the passion, craftsmanship, and heart that make Creation Wines so special. It truly exceeded every expectation, and I’ll be raving about this wholesome, beautiful experience for a long time to come!

    We had very high expectations for the food and winepairing. Too high as it turned out. The quantity was little, as too be expected. The quality was good but not exceptional - there was no WOW-effect. The wines were good, we liked the Sauvignon Blanc, the pure one, and got a bottle. So summarized - it was an interesting experience but overpriced.
