Gourmet Guide™ Description

Creation’s new-look Tasting Room has introduced bright pops of colour with glass sculptures, complementing the all-encompassing views of the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. Local, of course. Sleek wooden tables and sheepskin-covered chair seats in winter add to the welcoming ambience indoors. Here, every season is given equal emphasis with a sensory food-and-wine pairing menu crafted to stage the regional bounty.

The vine leads the way, with six courses conceptualised to make the wine shine. The Ayurvedic ethos ensures that tasters and diners leave with a lightness of being. The focus on wellness ensures that, from the amuse bouche, your blood sugars are kept steady. Ingredients are not overworked; simple ingredients eloquently combined, like tofu, sesame seeds, and ginger, are fried to create a delectable crust. Chef Eleanor Niehaus leads a unified kitchen brigade, many of whom hold wine qualifications and are sent to Europe for constant exposure and
upskilling. Every team member is obviously passionate about the place, produce, and their role.

Attention to detail is sublime. Note the pottery plate pressed with a Pinot Noir vine leaf, the silk scarf presented for you to touch, a feather, and even a shell to hold to your ear – it’s all part of a multi-course odyssey that engages every sense, a testament to co-owner Carolyn Martin’s sixth sense. There is something for everyone, from breakfast and a kid’s menu to charcuterie and cheese platters. It’s unofficially the gastronomic ambassador of the Overberg and Cape Floral Kingdom, simply heaven on a plate.

    The "All Senses" wine tasting experience was exceptional and added an entirely new dimension to food and wine pairing. Every element was thoughtfully curated, creating an immersive journey that engaged far more than just the palate. The vegan menu was nothing short of extraordinary. Each course showcased remarkable creativity, flawless technique, and a deep understanding of flavour, texture, and balance. Rather than simply substituting ingredients, the chefs celebrated plant-based cuisine in a way that was innovative, elegant, and utterly delicious. Every dish was beautifully presented and packed with vibrant, complex flavours that continually surprised and delighted us. The wine selection complemented each course perfectly, elevating the entire experience. Together, the food and wine created a harmonious progression that was both memorable and inspiring. I can honestly say this was one of the finest food and wine pairing experiences my partner and I have enjoyed in South Africa. It exceeded our expectations in every way, and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a truly world-class culinary experience.
