Step into the gastronomic heart of the hotel and take your seat in an exclusive, hidden dining space. Watch in wonder as dishes are prepared right before your eyes—then uncover the inspiration behind each creation.

Inspired by the seasons and the desire to reduce our footprint on this wonderful land, the chefs have put their minds and attentions on sourcing, when possible, local organically grown produce that has the smallest impact on our environment. They deal with likeminded farmers and producers who share a desire that our children must also be able to share this land’s harvest with their children. They have excluded meat and fish intentionally and chosen to showcase and celebrate the wonderous bounty of Western Cape agriculture.

What a lovely evening. Thanks to Lazarus, Chefs Snow and Zee (apologies if spelling is incorrect). This was one of the highlights of our holiday. We understand that this was Chef Snow’s first time cooking for Chefs Table as regular chef was unwell. She did a fantastic job. Her fish dish was best plate of food I’ve had during my 2 week stay in South Africa.

It was an outstanding experience! Lazarus was our host. He took excellent care of us. Philip was our Chef. After the dinner we were informed that it was his first Chef's table. He created a stunning six courses menu for us. One or two ingredients could have been spiced a little more courageously, but overall everything was cooked to a very high standard.

If there is a word that is beyond ‘outstanding’ I would use it to describe our superb dining experience at the Chef’s Table. Lazarus our host and our chef Isaac were both excellent and catered to my idiosyncrasies. We are going again next week because it was so, so good.

On arrival in the reception area we were asked to take a seat. After the appointed time had passed we were wondering what to expect, but shortly thereafter our host, Lazarus, introduced himself and served us a Kir Royale, explaining we would wait until all the guests for the evening had arrived, then make our way through to the Chef's Table. They soon determined that one party were a no show, and we were taken through the kitchen to the dining alcove. We understand the maximum number of covers is 12 but on this evening it was only two tables of two. We introduced ourselves to the other guests and it was agreed we should join tables. Lazarus deftly re-arranged the seating . We've not dined at a "Chef's Table" previously so difficult to rate the ambience. The area where we were seated was comfortable. Back ground noise from the kitchen, while not as loud expected, successfully out-competed much of the enthusiastic descriptions of the dishes and wines narrated by our host and kitchen brigade. (Those with 20/20 hearing may fare better.) The dishes were well prepared, and the quality of the ingredients could not be faulted, the crayfish and South African Wagyu beef were excellent. On presentation, some of the dishes may have benefitted from slightly smaller plates as they seemed lost. The wines seemed well paired, with Springfield's "The Work of Time" deserving of a special mention. We are not strangers to fine dining in Cape Town, and having read recent reviews of this venue our expectations were high. Unfortunately overall we were a little underwhelmed, an classify this as an interesting experience. What made the evening for us was the sociable, friendliness of the other couple.
