I was highly disappointed with this ‘picnic’. They have such an amazing space and incredible views, but everything else was shocking. I arrived at 2pm, our basket only arrived at 3:30pm after asking 3 waiters AND calling the main reception to inquire what was taking so long (they never called me back by the way). The picnic area itself was not fully prepared despite paying well in advance and confirming the day before that I would arrive at 2pm. we had to sit and toast in the sun while they scrambled for an umbrella. We ordered drinks in the meantime which took a while to arrive too. Safe to say I was HANGRY by the time our basket arrived with no apology just excuses of how busy they were. The ‘picnic basket’ itself was literally a log bread and cheese. Not worth the high price I paid for it. The icing on the cake was they had the audacity to add a mandatory tip for their ‘exceptional service’ which i absolutely had to dispute. I will not be returning! Ugh

We ordered 3 picnic baskets and the food was very mediocre and badly platted. So disappointing for such an amazing venue. Not worth the price.

    1. We came in October 2024 and had the most amazing picnic (I gave a 5/5 review on EVERYTHING. The food offering has changed. Charcuterie was great, yet the salad and desserts were disappointing 2. My aunt has skin cancer (I didn't want to embarrass her so didn't confirm to the waiter). We asked twice if we could move to a spot with more shade or have another umbrella. We were told it was full, we couldn't move and there wasn't another umbrella available. Friends came 45 mins later, picked and sat in their preferred shaded seating. They could have moved us! 3. The day before the booking I reconfirmed our booking on a call and asked that our table be set up to include our kids (who would order from the kids menu). The table was not set up for the kids, so when we arrived we asked for more glasses and place settings. The glasses never arrived, so I had to get their water bottles out of the car. The kids ordered pizza, so ate with their hands. 4. I ordered and pre-paid for our picnics. The boxes came 1h30 mins after we arrived, despite me asking twice. The kids food came out 45mins before our picnics, so we couldn't eat together. Apparently they were "really busy", yet people around us were all eating their picnics. I think the neighbouring table arrived early and staff gave them our boxes by mistake, so we had to wait until their allotted time before eating.

Honestly, I think the basket may have only really been worth R500. Your drinks prices are high and cocktails mediocre. Plus I felt 6 vegetarian falafel was not worth the same price one paid for the meat basket which was full. It feels like the prices are aimed at tourists. As a local it'll be hard to come back but you have the most incredible view so maybe next time I'll try the restaurant. Also feel the picnic boxes looked a bit tired.
