Absolutely awful experience. Went to Lagoon beach hotel for my partner’s birthday. Mind you this booking was made months in advance. Got there security scans my ID and asks us ‘where are you going’ in those words. Told him we have a dinner reservation and he says we could go in. We pass by the reception and not a single person at the reception greets us or try and accommodate us. First time at this place so we don’t know where the restaurant is so we stood in front of the reception scanning the place instead of walking around looking. Luckily there was a big sign AU BLEU . So we went to the restaurant that we had booked months in advance. Got there and there is a sign that says 40th celebration. It looked like they were hosting a function. We stood by the host’s station for about 5 minutes. No one came to talk to us and staff kept passing us by like they didn’t see us. My partner then suggested we go back to the reception. We got there and we told them we have a booking for dinner for 7pm but it looks like there is a function. We asked for their assistance and they told us to GO AND ASK THE HOST. We told them we just came from there and no1 seems to be helping us. They told us to go again and check. I have been working in the hotel industry for years. I am a front office manager and what l experienced was awful. Worse than substandard. They were so unbothered. Simple customer care like greeting and walking guest to their facilities. Anyhow, we went back to the restaurant and stood by the host’s station and then finally someone came. We told her we have a reservation and we are not part of the function. She asks us if we made the booking that day. So clearly they don’t check what is happening before their shift started. I tell her that l made this booking 2 months in advance and she looks surprised. She then tell us to wait while she checks. A few minutes later she comes back and tells us that we must have dinner in La Mizu. It’s a bar just FYI. So l must celebrate my partner’s birthday in a bar. We were already there so we didn’t have much of a choice and l didn’t want to ruin the day. So she asked us to have a seat while they set up a table for us. We selected a table by the window with a view. After 10 minutes she came to us and offered us drinks while we wait. My partner got a cocktail and myself a cranberry juice. The juice was awful, it tasted watered down but then again you can complain about free things. Or so l thought. After 47 minutes of waiting l asked one of the waiters that was passing by for the Wi-Fi password that should have been given upon us seating down to wait but anyway. I also asked her if she knew how long we had to wait for our table. She went to check and came back to collect us. The table we had asked now had 2 white men seating there and the only view we had was of curtains. So we get our menus from our waitress Thembi bless her soul she was the only good thing that happened during our dinner. She brought us the bar menu and we explained to her that we booked next door and would like that menu as we wanted a proper dinner. She did so and we ordered steak for myself with mushroom sauce and the my partner the same with another main of fish and chips. Our food came and the presentation was great. So was the steak. The problem was the mushroom sauce. It was very watery and tasted nothing like mushroom. If anything it tasted like sour milk. After our dinner a cake was brought by Siya and Thembi and they sang for my partner which was very sweet. Thembi then brought our bill and guess what. They charged us for the welcome drinks! So it wasn’t enough that they failed to notify us that they had a fiction so we couldn’t have dinner at the restaurant of our choice that we booked months in advance. Or the fact that they made us wait for almost an hour to get our table then proceeded to give away our table to other people. No they had to charge us for the welcome drinks too? Wow this was a monumental catastrophe. All this in one evening. We were even planning on having my birthday there and stay for 2 nights. But if they can’t get a simple dinner right. I can’t trust them with an entire stay. The sad part is that this place has so much potential. The place is beautiful, location is fantastic it’s just the service that is ridiculous.

Myself and twelve friends had a most enjoyable breakfast at The Brasserie yesterday. The variety of food on offer was quite amazing, equally delicious and the service we received from Rose was exceptional. We had a very lovely time and can recommend the venue wholeheartedly.

The food was outstanding but unfortunately we had to wait a very long time for it to arrive. Hopefully the waiting was a once off thing and am certainly going to try it again as everyone loved the food and I hope the time management can be worked on. See soon again and thank you

Place is great with beautiful view BUT food wasn’t good.Very disappointing as breakfast is the most important meal of the day and supposedly the easiest to make.
