The name "Agteros" reflects the owner's personal journey of perseverance and eventual success, inspired by the Afrikaans proverb "Agteros kom ook in die kraal" (The last ox also gets to the kraal).

Inside: Seats 40-50 guests with an inviting and intimate atmosphere. Outside: A charming terrace garden space.

    Very. relaxed and personal athmosphere. Jeanine does a perfekt job in the kitchen. Very fine taste in all the menu ! Thank you for the nice diner.

    Overall lovely lunch outside in a quaint garden setting. We shared the pumpkin fritters with lovely fresh thyme that complimented them perfectly. Chowder was excellent. The octopus risotto was only slightly let down by chewy octopus. We were both too full to try the desserts that sounded delicious. Willene our waitress was attentive without being intrusive. It's a long way from Australia but if we were in the area again we'd definitely return. Thank You!

    A really really outstanding meal. Janine's autumn menu is her best yet... The lamb ribs were extraordinary, as was the octopus. In fact everything was gorgeous.

    Exceptional standard of food! Engaging, thought-provoking and personal service delivery. The whole experience felt very authentic and intentional; the staff remained accommodating and self-aware, providing an alternate meal option for the kids. I had the duck on the seasonal autumn menu, which was absolutely mouthwatering! Our whole table, (a multi-generational family), all became very silent as we started to eat— a great sign in our eyes! The food was fresh, and felt creative while remaining accessible and well proportioned. It was a real treat, thank you for having us Agteros!

    Two friends and I had a long lazy laughter-filled lunch at this wonderful new find in Stanford yesterday, a truly joyous time. The food was both delicious and unusual, the story of the name Agteros quite charming, and it is set in a beautiful old building with understated classic decor. All of this coupled with lovely service from our waitress Busi, and an engaging chat to the on-duty chef, made for a truly memorable experience . It is a treat to taste creative interpretations of South African ingredients and classics, it brings a great warmth to the dishes and SA authenticity. We definitely will be back, it's a high recommendation from all three of us and we with Janine and her wonderful team the best of deserved luck, thanks for the great experience.
