Although its true origins are disputed and many lay claim to the idea, 1904 is recorded as the year the humble hamburger gained national recognition in America at the St. Louis Worlds Fair. Our menu is an ode to the trail blazing vendors whose steak patty sandwich revolutionised the food industry.

The fact that they brought us a tray wth "Happy Anniversary" was a touch that topped off an excellent experience. Well done!

As I left 1904 last night, I was somewhat disappointed for myself. My husband's meal was perfect, good meat at a fabulous price and service was good. However, I ordered the grilled Kingklip and because it's listed as Catch of the Day, SQ ... I obviously did not ask about the price. The waitress did say its about 400-500g of Kingklip and I thought that was more than substantial. When my meal arrived, imagine my disappointed ... when I looked at this piece of fish, that was clearly in my eyes that looked and also tasted like the boxed Yankee Clippers that I would buy at our local supermarket. Bone in, not longer than a ruler length and the top probably around 5cm in diameter and obviously thinning out as you get to the tail end. I am not a meat eater and I am always eating out Seafood or Chicken. In all of my dining experiences never, never have I ever been served Kingklip in this fashion, that is 'On the Bone'. So yes, leaving this fine establishment with a bitter R369.00 payment for a piece of 'Yankee Clippers ' did not go down well with me last night, however my hubby did enjoy his meal and it was his birthday dinner after all.

We had sent back creme brulee for being grainy & came back the exact same. R75 for 750ml of water definitely seems like a scam.
