Located in the vibrant Oxford Parks precinct, this distinguished addition to the city’s dining scene is brought to life by acclaimed chef Luke Dale Roberts. Known for his innovative approach, he has seamlessly transferred the magic of the Cape Town original to Johannesburg,
offering a refined dining experience with a touch of Asian fusion flair.

Executive chef Tyron Gentry’s expertise in marrying European culinary traditions with Asian flavours is showcased on the á la carte and six-course tasting menus, both of which promise a journey of culinary delight. One fresh start is the line fish sashimi served with pad Thai dressing, togarashi mayo, and nuoc cham. Another standout dish is the beef tartare with a gochujang dressing, truffle mayo, fresh truffle, and brioche toast–an exquisite mix of umami and crunch.

The venison dish is a revelation. Cooked to perfection, the succulent meat is complemented by a velvety beetroot purée that adds a subtle earthiness and a striking hue. Complementing these tastes is a delicate tarragon emulsion, imparting a hint of anise and an aromatic finish, creating a harmonious and visually stunning plate. Desserts are equally impressive. The Espresso Express, with its almond cake and coffee caramel, is pure indulgence, while the miso cheesecake presents an umami-rich twist on the classic dessert, beautifully balanced by the sweetness of the granadilla sorbet.

    We are so sorry to see you go! Definitely loved our last meal at Shortmarket and we’re still thinking of the tuna sashimi days later.

    I have been to the restaurant before and was inpressed, however, now I think the service & attentiveness of the waiters had dropped, so I was a bit disappointed.
