The reason for our 1/5 rating for service is for the front of house service and not that of our server (Prince, who was amazing). When we arrived with a confirmed booking for a party of 6 on the Oak Terrace, no-one seemed to know where to place us and we were asked whether our booking was for 2 people when it became apparent that there clearly was not space left/reserved on the terrace for us. We were then offered a table to the left side of the terrace in the boiling sun (it was about 32 degrees out) and all on its own on some gravel, not even on the terrace. We had specifically booked the terrace for the trees and shade. We felt like an afterthought and it was very disappointing for our guests who joined us from the Maldives and this was their first visit to the Lawns. We were then placed on an entirely different lawn lower down to sit at a spot that someone had only reserved for later that day. This is unacceptable behaviour, especially if someone made a booking well in advance for a larger group and then get treated that way. Prince fortunately made up for it but the front of house management needs to improve. The toilets get a 1/5 rating because the staff member cleaning them shouted at my wife saying she must use the next one while she was cleaning and the toilets generally felt quite run down and not kept well.

Our server, Varleen, was outstanding. The food was basic, quite pricy but enjoyable. The crockery was badly chipped and the cutlery not clean which dampened the whole experience.
