The Kraal Restaurant at Joostenberg Wine Estate, is a laid back, farm restaurant, serving slow, seasonal set menu three course lunches and organic estate wines. Tables are set between fruit and olive trees in the shaded, stone walled courtyard in summer, and inside the cosy, rustic wagenhuis in winter. Allow some time to enjoy a relaxed, informative tasting of our wines and to stroll through the werf garden and admire the authentic, original Cape Dutch architecture.

    Relaxed dining. Food beautifully cooked and presented. The tian of Mediterranean vegetables accompanying the slow roast lamb was exquisite.

    For my 30th birthday I invited close friends and family to a long table lunch the Kraal. It was everything I hoped for- exceptional family style food. We are still debating the stand-out dish because they were all phenomenal, hot contenders are the boplaas cheese salad, roasted aubergine and raspberry tart. The service was attentive and relaxed, which made for the best extended lunch under the trees. Thank you!

    A most enjoyable time spent at The Kraal. Thank you! The consistency of the quality of the food, served in a wonderful relaxed family farm setting, well trained staff, brings us a family back over and over again introducing our friends from far and near to have this experience.

    Beautiful setting on a wonderful working organic wine farm. The food is sublime, with extraordinary meats and the BEST vegetable side dishes (much of the produce is from the farm). Friendly service and a love for what they do makes this one of our favourite restaurants in the Cape. Thank you, all!
