One of the first signature chef restaurants in the Cape Winelands, Jordan Restaurant brought Chef George Jardine’s brand of contemporary fare from city to country in 2009.
We are excited to announce that Marthinus Ferreira, of Dw eleven – 13 in Johannesburg, has taken over the management of The Jordan Restaurant, taking over from Chef George Jardine. The signature restaurant will trade under the name The Jordan Restaurant with Marthinus Ferreira.
Marthinus Ferreira has helped shape the South African food scene, with his flair for food gastronomy inspired by his childhood favourites and influences from abroad, having worked with some of the world’s top chefs, including Chef Gordon Ramsay & Chef Heston Blumenthal.
Here, the outside comes in with expansive views of the lake and vineyards that are purely paintable. And so are the plates… Chef Marthinus Ferreira’s contemporary, sophisticated dining is premium. Dishes are flavourful, and sauces sublime. He’s a chef who has embraced the art of classical French cooking, infused with tastes gleaned from other European destinations.
Take a leap and order the tasting menu, as you’ll find it hard to choose from the à la carte; each plate has its own appeal. The bread course alone is a veritable feast, with merlot butter, a spinach salad oozing umami, olives, and a miniature version of a Greek salad served on a cucumber slice – all in the spirit of giving.
Mains are all drawcards, with the confit pork belly accompanied by pommes purée, buttered radish, fermented apple, remoulade, cranberry ketchup, and morel pork jus being a standout. All meals complement the array of premium Jordan wines on offer and others, creating a companionable dining experience that celebrates the place and its produce.
