Protégé is an exciting casual fine dining eatery under the guidance of previous Eat Out Chef of the Year, La Colombe’s Scot Kirton.

Scot is proud to be part of the process of recognising young talented chefs and giving them the opportunity to put themselves on the map. In keeping with this, the restaurant was aptly named Protégé.

The idea with Protégé is to keep it casual and comfortable, working with local suppliers to keep the menu as fresh and as seasonal as possible.

The restaurant space has been designed around the central show kitchen with al fresco dining planned at both ends of the restaurant.

Protégé is open for lunch from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm and for dinner from 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm.

    Eating at Protege has become the highlight of our Franschoek visits. The combination of food, service and presentation makes this a unique and very special experience. The arrival of each course is rewarded by a fabulous description of the plate served before tasting the combination of delicious colours and flavours in front of you. A huge treat we always look forward to.

    Overall a good experience. Some smaller things accumulating to a not perfect evening. - de-boned chicken had bones which I bite on - I was asked for preferences but it was forgotten multiple times. Though the service was very helpful - in between courses it sometimes took a bit long. - the wine flight was quite expensive for the value. On the good side it was amazing to have to open kitchen, to be able to see and also have short chats with the chefs. The meat was very well and I loved the composition and creativity of the different courses.
