Rickety Bridge is an enchanting Franschhoek wine estate that earns its place in the Cape's cuisine capital. Franschhoek is home to some of the best restaurants in South Africa. The Restaurant in the Vines has made way for Paulina's, named in honour of the original owner of the property in 1797, Paulina de Villiers. The restaurant spills out from a cosy thatched area onto shaded decks with views over the vineyards and mountains.

    Our tasting waiter was disgruntled to have to bring 2 drinks from the restaurant which was unnecessary as there were 6 of us doing a tasting downstairs. We were only able to make a 15:30pm lunch reservation upstairs online, only to arrive to an empty restaurant with only 1 table and limited staff, meaning that service was slow, ambiance not as expected and food very average. 5/10 experience overall.

    A lovely lunch at Paulina’s. One risotto, delicious, one salad which they altered to suit me and that was lovely too. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Very happy to recommend, and do try the old vines Sauvignon Blanc. Delish.

    Long waiting time, we were the first guests. The Launch was of middle quality. Better you have to eat at the Wine Tasting.
