    We visited Melfort for lunch on Sunday, and what an unforgettable experience it turned out to be. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the incredibly friendly waitress, Babalwa, who truly made our visit extra special. She took such great care of us throughout the afternoon, attentively explaining each course on the set menu as it was served and regularly checking in to ensure everything was perfect. Her knowledge, along with that of the entire team, really stood out - every staff member was welcoming, informed, and clearly passionate about what they do. The food itself was exceptional. Each dish was thoughtfully curated, with many ingredients sourced straight from their own garden, which added a fresh and authentic touch to the experience. A particularly delightful highlight was the surprise snacks served between courses - such a lovely and unexpected detail that elevated the entire meal. Our absolute favourite, though, was their healing tea - a beautiful blend of rooibos and lemon balm that was simply divine. One of the things we loved most is that the menu changes monthly, giving you a reason to come back and experience something new each time. Beyond the food, the setting is absolutely breathtaking. The scenery is picturesque, and guests are free to explore the gardens, which adds to the charm. There are also a few farm animals and three adorable dogs - Rory, Rosie, and Marly who are incredibly friendly. Dog lovers will be especially delighted, Rory happily sits by your feet and even plays fetch! Tasmin and Nick have truly created something magical at Melfort. The attention to detail in every aspect - from the service and decor to the food and overall atmosphere - is on another level. Everything about our visit felt thoughtful, intentional, and beautifully executed. Honestly, we could not fault a single thing. It was impeccable from start to finish. Would highly recommend booking a visit, whether it’s for a date, lunch or any special occasion.

    Second time at Melfort and again great. Nick is a natural host, Babs took very good care of us as our friendly and attentive waiter. The menu on Sunday is fixed so no a a la carte choices. I especially enjoyed the main course with both the lamb shank (very meaty and not fat at all) and the smooth springbok fillet (cooked perfectly) and the tasty side dishes, the chocolate dessert and of course the roosterkoek. The starter and dim sum dish were a bit too 'light' for me taste: it could have used a bit more 'oempf'. The location is one of a kind. If you haven't tried Melfort yet, In would strongly recommend enjoying a lunch here on the beautiful deck.

    Wonderful place , just the perfect lunch , simplicity and great cooking with wonderful staff , had snapper which was as good as it gets ! Will be back real soon !!

    What a phenomenal experience. The venue is stunning, the service was incredible, the food blew us away-we did the à la carte menu and everything was delicious and perfect portion size. The Chef went above and beyond to make my birthday one to remember with a delicious desert. The Kids play area is also great, shaded and safe, we didn't have to worry about the kids at all allowing everyone to enjoy their meal. The animal pen was also a great hit with the kids. I would highly recommend Melfort.
