Maximillien Restaurant launches New Menu
The décor is reminiscent of the old school Balthazar restaurant in New York, and the dark wood panelling, mirrors and red upholstery, as well as the black and white checked floors and intricately pressed ceilings would find you thinking that you had indeed headed back in time to the 1920’s.
What can only be described as one of Sandton’s most well-known restaurants, the Maximillien is a stalwart of fine dining at its best. Floor to ceiling windows allow in soft natural light during the day and create a picturesque view for evening dining. Romantic candle light dinners setting the mood.

    I had a the Jalapeño Fillet Steak and it has to be up there with the best steak I have ever eaten - I have eaten around the world. I would recommend eating here for quality, value and service.

    The food was very disappointing, primarily due to the fact that all the mains were cold and the cook of some dishes , such as then potatoes being undercooked and lamb and rice being over. Additionally the quality was below par for what one would expect for the price, primarily shown in the desserts. The selection, especially the dessert, was underwhelming. One of course sees this when the menu is provided prior to booking, however it would be expected given the venue and price that the quality would have compensated, which it unfortunately did not. Having been to a number Christmas lunches in the area over the years, this, when considering the R775 price, was one of the more disappointing ones. In retrospect, a number of other options that provide either more selection, better quality and/or better price point. The staff are very attentive and helpful, which is a highlight of the experience.

    This was the first Christmas the family and I decided to do a lunch and it was great! The food was delicious I tried to taste everything! The staff and ambience is all brilliant. Personally my family and I didn’t eat for the value but the food quality and taste was worth it. The amount of variety is great because there is something for everyone. I would consider doing this again.
