I went to Lanzerac to experience the Afternoon tea at the Manor Kitchen. I arrived a bit earlier to walk around the property. Very nice garden and historic buildings with many different offerings. I'll come back to try other restaurants on the farm. In regards to the high tea, here are my comments : - I would have liked to have a menu describing all the amuse bouche that were served. The waiter did it verbally, but as it comes in sets, it is lot of information to remember at the same time. - I liked the savoury part, but I didn't find anything special on the sweet / dessert parts. - The tea arrived too late. Maybe to place a bottle of water for the table, that is not really necessary for high teas, if you get your tea from the start ? - I didn't feel it was a personalised experience, as all the tables were served the same courses at the same time. I had the feeling to have a group booking split between different tables. All that being said, it was a lovely afternoon.

We had the 7 course experience menu. The evening started with high expectations when we were greeted by the concierge who parked our car. Unfortunately the food as described on the menu did not deliver on the promised description. The saldanha bay oyster , with " lime , miso yuzu and Japanese breadcrumb was burnt and there was no evidence of any oyster flesh. It was presented on a bed of pebbles and dry ice, which was bizarre considering the oyster was warm. We sent it back and asked for unadorned oysters , much better you could taste the oysters! The ostrich fillet was also overwhelmed with unnecessary additions which hid the flavour of the fillet. All of the subsequent dishes were unnecessary complicated, the chef seemed to be trying to impress but the combination of ingredients did not compliment each other, and ultimately overwhelmed the ," hero" item of the dish. We raised our concerns with the manager, who thanked us for our constructive criticism and kindly ( and unexpectedly) deducted around R300 off our bill. The service was friendly and reasonably efficient, but again not entirely satisfactory. All in all a rather disappointing meal and definitely not worth R1200 pp.

We were advised that the meal comes with wine pairing however wine was at an additional cost. Compliments to the chef and our waiters. Service and food was excellent.
