La Parada Bar De Tapas first opened its doors in Bree Street – Cape Town’s hottest food strip – as a tribute to the Spanish bars that bewitched Hemingway. La Parada offers tapas born from Spanish heritage but curated for the South African palate.

With an impressive interior, boasting ornate pressed ceilings, a miscellany of chairs and lampshades and an eclectic selection of Spanish tiles, La Parada specialises in sharing small plates that incorporate a Spanish flair and a great vibe. With many patrons popping in for afternoon drinks and a light bite, rather than a sit-down dinner – which is after all the origin of tapas – the drinks list encourages as much experimentation as the menu.

    Food: from the three meals ordered, the lamb rump with tzatziki was a let down. the tzatziki was not fresh, lacked yoghurt, had too much garlic. Ordered green salad and it was soggy (dressing added prematurely), there was a lot of lettuce and not much of other vegetables. Service: The service was slow, lack of attention to detail (i.e. cutlery, serviettes).

    It was my daughter's 16th birthday celebration and ordered some pizzas. It was really some of the best we ever had, we will definitely return and try some of the other dishes!

    Everything was TERRIBLE! The food was COLD, including the chips! The chicken was hard with the WORST sauce ever!!!…the wors had THE WORST TASTE, almost like it was off. No one was at the door for us to be seated… The drinks menu WAS LIMITED!!! I’m not sure if I want to comment on the music sound quality!!! My regular is Menlyn Maine… I’ve been to Waterfall and Melrose Arch… I’ve received BEST SERVICE EACH TIME! Our waiter was VERY patient… however, we could see the frustration in her face. Haaaai!!! Nooooo!!!…

    The restaurant is such a vibe, the live band was amazing for a New Year party. The staff is friendly and helpful, my daughter and I enjoyed La Parada Irene

    Food was completely overpriced for the amount and quality. Tapas are overpriced and quality lacks. I also ate the kingklip and it was a third of the size I expected and completely overcooked.
