Best thing first: The scenery is absolutely magnificent. On a gorgeous day like it turned out on Christmas day, there's nothing like it. Fresh, clean sea air and a clear blue sky. Lovely for taking family pics. Ambiance: This was alright, but quite 'sleepy'. I definitely feel like there could have been more 'vibey' music for the happy occasion. Service: Staff were very kind and quite efficient. Food: Meh. The crispy prawns were a real hit, but everything else was okay. Some oxtail soft, and some too hard to eat. Setup: It was clever having two identical sides of the buffet to avoid congestion. Only problem: the plates were only on one side, which means the purpose of a two-sided buffet was defeated. Everyone kept asking the one queue of people to give way so they could fetch a plate. Value for money: As mentioned, the setting cannot be faltered. So that's a plus. However, if I had spent R450 from al a la carte menu, I probably could have had quite a fancy meal. Decor: Christmas crackers on the table was great. Perhaps just a little more of something on the tables. For R450 a head and with it being a special occasion, i.e. Christmas, perhaps a little sparkling drink on arrival.

Setting awesome, staff friendly but not trained quite as expected with no-one seemingly overseeing them. Food was pretty good. Would definitely visit again though.

Our group thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. Our waitress was really very good, attentive and interacted very well with her diners. However, none of our credit cards would work and I had to ask my guests if they had enough bank notes on them to assist me paying the bill - this was the only negative.

Cape Town Hotel School Restaurant responded on Tue 29 Oct 24:
Good afternoon Mr McCann Thank you for your kind words, all feedback is greatly appreciated. Unfortunately there was a nation wide issue with one of the major banks, which impacted our credit card machines. Upon your next visit with us, we hope for no challenges. looking forward to hosting you soon again.

Great welcome, friendly staff. However waiters needed far more training. Starters and desserts were excellent. Main course consisted of a really tasty lemon and herb chicken thigh, a little overdone, and thick sliced sirloin cooked to medium which for our table was overdone as all prefer medium rare. Roast veg mix was perfect in being al dente for carrots and cauliflower and correctly cooked potatoes. Pricing very reasonable.

It was an over all EXCELLENT experience except when it came to paying the bill. I had paid via EFT for the meals and the Manager had no proof of payment so I had to pay for the full meal again until I could produce proof of payment. Needless to say very embarrrasing and I was very angry as I had paid 6 days BEFORE the lunch.

Cape Town Hotel School Restaurant responded on Mon 28 Oct 24:
