A multi-purpose restaurant, grill, wine bar and gourmet home accessory shop, Belthazar brings a chic new concept in the culinary arts to Cape Town.

Dedicated to the wise man of the magi who was “lord of treasures”, a treasure trove of delights awaits foodies at Belthazar – along with an exclusive catalogue of kitchenware. (We might spell his name a little differently but we like to do things a little differently with a lot of style.)

Owners of award-winning Balducci, a landmark for contemporary dining at the Cape, travelled the world with their team to find an innovative formula which would showcase South African wine in a prime tourist location at the V&A Waterfront. Follow the romantic lamps to a terrace with dreamy views of Table Bay and the rich ambience of a wharf warehouse with thousands of bottles of wine, a glittering store of Riedel glassware, wine aprons, corkscrews, cookbooks and exclusive gourmet knives.

    Although the food and service were good, the venue was very noisy making it difficult to conduct a conversation with fellow patrons at the same table. The wine prices are ridiculous. As a resident of Cape Town, I know the prices of our local wines and although it's understandable that there is a markup, the amount is crazy. This is why I would not recommend the restaurant to friends.

    The food was ok, but obviously the kitchen is just churning out numbers. Service was great, friendly and fairly efficient. The table & chairs are completely the wrong height for eating at - very uncomfortable. Our table was in a horrible location, hidden by pillars and waiters’ stations. Those tables should never be used unless the ambience and style can be improved - it was like sitting in a car park. Would never recommend.

You can be rest assured that we do (churn) food out, we are a ward winning establishment and rank in the top percent in the world. With regards to the table configuration, this is the first report we have had of this kind and apologise for any inconvenience caused, the V&A Waterfront is a prime world class location and unfortunately we cannot change the structure of the building and or design.     Our meal was very good but unfortunately even though we had told them when we arrived that our booking was through Dineplan the waiter did not take the R1000 deposit paid from our final bill. I only discovered this when we got home. Please could you credit this back to my card. Many thanks.
