Banana Jam Cafe opened in 1999 as a small 45 seater restaurant in the parking lot by Kenilworth station, serving traditional Caribbean food along side burgers and pizza.

In 2010 we moved across the road and expanded to a 200 seater restaurant. With the same Caribbean feel as before we now boast a beautiful garden, an open plan interior with our famous Rum bar, 30 beers on tap and one of the best brew pubs in Cape Town.

They cancelled 2.5 hours before the reservation because they suddenly had to close

Banana Jam Cafe responded on Tue 21 Jan 25:
Hi Cameron I am so terribly sorry for the last-minute cancellation. Unfortunately, we experienced a traumatic event the night before, which left us with no choice but to close on Sunday. In the chaos of dealing with the aftermath on Sunday morning, I forgot to check the reservations until 12 PM. I did attempt to call you to explain personally but was unable to get through. Please drop me an email at shannon@bananajamcafe.co.za so I can offer you a voucher as an apology. Thank you for your understanding.

I had the starter portions of baby calamari and mussels as I couldn't decide between the two. Both delicious. The burger that another party member had was a little overcooked. Perhaps the diner can request how they want their burger done.? Virgin cocktails were lovely. Definitely well worth a visit.

I had a very underwhelming experience to say the least...happy hours drinks tastes like water, the waitress didn't know basic math and then still said, we work very hard here. We all work hard and for me that was very unprofessional seeing that she was the one that had to explain how it works after getting the bill. People at another table next to mine had exactly the same problem. I defs won't be going there again and will advise people that it wasn't a great experience
