Apprentice Restaurant, situated in George, Western Cape, is the natural progression from the François Ferreira Academy. Our restaurant serves its customers delicious meals in an exquisite formal setting, where customers will get a feel of a genuine fine-dining experience. Our aspiring chefs in training at our state-of-the-art Academy, need a soft landing in the industry where they will prepare to go into the world and share a kitchen with another chef. At Apprentice, the chefs in training will be working as part of a professional team, adding their talent to the mix, and at the same time learning from the masters in the kitchen.

    We enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant as well as our friendly water. The lemon and poppy seed cake which we took as take-aways was most enjoyable and a welcome change from the George standard of carrot cake, chocolate cake and cheesecake. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of the food, which was sadly a disappointment. The full portion of mussels was very small - less than the size of an average starter and the 6 mussels were also really very small. We checked 3 times that this was indeed a full portion of mussels. The tempura aubergine was oily on the outside and watery on the inside, but the buttermilk fried panko chicken strips were really nice and our saving grace.

    There was a small issue with our reservation but our server handled it with grace. She was amazing. And she continued to serve us with such excellence it made the whole evening special. Will come again for sure

    We had pork belly for dinner. It was very difficult to eat. It should rather be cut in smaller pieces. We could not cut through the rind it was too hard. We took it home and fed some teenagers after finishing it in the airfryer.

    Nice place with nice playing ground for kids, but it is sooooo frustrating that they never answer their phone. Always messaging service and if you leave a message they don't phone back.
