Aegir Project Brewery Noordhoek

Cape Point Vineyards has a new jungle gym with separate play areas for toddlers so everyone can have a good time. The Courtyard restaurant is near the jungle gym, and the sprawling lawns are ideal for a family-friendly summer’s lunch.

Between Bree Street, Hout Bay or Paarl, choose your closest Clay Café branch and take the whole family out for something a little different. Let kids of all ages unleash their inner artist, while they paint ceramics and enjoy something to eat. The Hout Bay and Paarl locations also have a large outdoor play area if the kids want to stretch their legs – and they cater for children’s birthday parties too.
A favourite seaside spot for locals, Die Damhuis is loved for its deliciously fresh seafood offering. It’s also a perfect spot for families, as they have a jungle gym for the kids as well as a massive sand pit to keep them busy.
Find a great selection of kids’ meals and milkshakes and a jungle gym adjacent to the deck area, so parents can keep an eye on the little ones while they play.
Situated in Somerset West, across the road from The Sanctuary Mall, where there is a driving range nearby for budding golfers. Frank’s also has a kiddies menu available all day.
Newlands stalwart, Forries, is well-known for its large play area, complete with swings, jungle gym and climbing apparatus. In addition to this, during summer, they offer sand art activities for the kids to take part in on Sundays.
The President Hotel has a dedicated kids’ play area complete with a jungle gym, jumping castle and soft play blocks. The famous pool area also has a separate shallow kids’ swimming area. Kids can take part in a free pizza-making activity on Fridays when mom and dad sit down for a meal.
moyo has a kiddies menu, as well as a play area and jungle gym. You can also purchase sand art and activity packs. So, after you’re done exploring the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, head over to moyo with the whole family for a bit to eat and some fun.
If you’re on the Atlantic Seaboard-side, Strolla will help keep the kids busy with a dedicated play area kitted out with video games and board games. Making their own pizza is another fun, kid-friendly activity on offer, meaning you’re covered for both lunch and entertainment.
Take a drive out to the Winelands for a relaxing afternoon under the trees at the Banhoek Chilli Oil Company. They encourage the kids to kick off their shoes and explore the grounds and play area while you enjoy a delicious lunch.

Le Pommier Wine Estate, located just outside Stellenbosch, offers a family-friendly atmosphere perfect for dining with kids. From Monday to Thursday, kids can enjoy half-price meals from 16h00 – 19h00 off the kiddies’ menu when dining with an adult. The estate features a play area with a jungle gym and swings, allowing kids to have fun while parents relax with wine. Plus, for R95 the unique juice and pizza or flavoured milk and sweet surprise pairings ensure that little ones don’t miss out on the delicious experience.
Hazendal is home to Wonderdal, an immersive and interactive edutainment experience to combine learning with play. At Wonderdal children aged 5-13 can discover the worlds of science and nature across a variety of indoor and outdoor activity zones. With trained WonderPals to supervise, young adventurers can look forward to a fun day out while parents enjoy all the offerings that Hazendal has to offer. You can also book a picnic in summer and enjoy a lazy afternoon with the whole family on the lawn.
La Pineta has a wonderful play area and large lawn for the kids to run around, as well as kids menu for when they need to refuel. Their 5-star reviews also got them a spot on the top 100 list of South Africa’s most-loved restaurants, as reviewed by their diners.
Millhouse Kitchen has not one, but two kids jungle gyms situated in close view to the seating area, as well as a large grassy area for kids to run around. They also offer a dedicated kids’ menu.
Get the family together and book at table at Mulderbosch. Serving up word-class wine and crispy, thin-based pizzas piping hot from the oven, you can tuck into a delicious meal while the kids have fun in the large playground right next to the restaurant. It has a lovely jungle gym with slides, monkey bars, swings and some climbing opportunities for the little ones.
Kids of all ages are spoiled for choice at Nederburg. Budding chefs and bakers will love the cupcake decorating workshop with Chef Arlene, or they can take part in a milk-and-cookie pairing. The team can arrange picnic boxes with a delicious collection of snacks that you’d be happy to see them eating and drinking. And, for birthday parties for six or more, they offer party surprise boxes plus a cupcake decoration workshop. Weather permitting, there’s also Jenga and a range of lawn games, jungle gyms, a zip-line, treehouse, swings and more to keep the kids occupied. As for the food, there’s something for everyone. Menu items start at R80 for children, with the milk and cookie pairings for R110 and cupcake decorating priced at R75 each.
In addition to their dedicated kiddies’ play area and kid-friendly menu, Pederberg offers cookie pairing activities and a jumping castle on the weekends.
Rickety Bridge has already nailed the wine pairing for adults, but they’ve also turned their attention to the little ones, too.
