I had such a wonderful night with my family at Aduna Bistro. I can not fault them on anything, from the warm welcome, to wonderful service, helping us even with the baby, 10/10 experience, I’m definitely coming back again.

Having only opened in September 2023, Akti Mediterranean has swiftly become a standout in Bedfordview’s dining scene. Inspired by his hometown, owner George Kutra, the man behind George’s Grill House (also featured on this list), has curated a pan-Mediterranean menu filled with delectable tapas, breads and dips, and a large selection of meat, seafood and vegetarian mezé and platters. Guests not only rave about the food but also praise the warm service and stunning decor, with its soft drapery, textured stone, and neutral colour palette.
Such a great experience, the food was incredible and the service was GREAT!

Their cellar offers a nice selection of wines and vintages to enjoy with your meal, and when it comes to service, they’re always happy to go the extra mile.
In Morningside, or Umhlanga? There’s no need to feel left out. The Butcher Boys are also serving up their legendary steaks there.
We totally enjoyed our family supper at The Butcher Boys in Meyersdal. The food was divine and we had excellent service from the team.

What a gem! Absolutely love their pizzas, and how nice it is to have a view on some green rather than a parking lot… My new favourite pizza joint to ease the Naples craving.
Calisto’s Portuguese Restaurant

We had a wonderful first visit at Ciro’s. Sitting outside was lovely, especially since there are not many places one can do that in JHB. Pasta was homemade and truly one of the best I’ve had in SA. Definitely try it out for a date night or dinner with friends.

- Each restaurant must have received 60 or more public reviews within the past 12 months (from 1 April 2023 – 31 March 2024).
How can this be a true reflection when some of your restaurants chosen have barely 100 reviews ? set the criteria correctly, surly over a 1000 reviews and above 4,6 score says this is a consistent restaurant.
Hi Pino, we agree that consistency is key. For this blog post, we included places with over 60 reviews from the past 12 months (as of March 2024). We didn’t want to exclude smaller eateries or restaurants that recently joined Dineplan but had been gathering great reviews in a short time. This way, we can spotlight both the newcomers and the established favourites in Johannesburg.
