In the early 1940s, wine farmers in the Perdeberg region grew dissatisfied with the low prices they were getting for their premium quality grapes. Then an astute farmer named Jan Rossouw suggested they begin producing their own wine and Perdeberg Cellar was born! We pressed our first grapes manually in 1942 and while we have come a long way in terms of technology, we are still renowned for our hands-on approach!

We had a wonderful tasting room experience and thoroughly enjoyed the Biltong paring. Our sommelier was first class (not long since arrived from Nederburg!) He had a wealth of knowledge about the wines and his passion was evident. We loved Perdeberg wines and bought a few cases to enjoy at home. The only downside is the slightly cold and clinical tasting room - it feels like a classroom. Then again, with wine as the subject, then it's not too bad! Unfortunately, we didn't enjoy the restaurant - it's not in the same league as the wines. Pizza was absolutely average and the burger not so great. The place was packed, so we are clearly in the minority. We will be back for the wines, but will give the restaurant a miss. It is a huge hit with families and with lots of space and areas, you can see why it's popular, especially with the children's pairing and board games in the tasting room.
